My Favorite Movies

I don't watch a lot of television, but occasionally I will watch a movie. Usually, I tend to enjoy movies with some comedy in them. I watch television for fun and if the movie is not fun then what's the point? At least that's how I feel most of the time. I know I'm a "grown-up," but who doesn't like a good kid's movie once in a while? Everyone has a favorite kid's movie whether they want to admit it or not. And then of course, there are more mature movies I like to watch when I don't have to allow my toddler's influence into the decision of which movie to watch. Below are a few of my favorite movies.

The Croods

I just love The Croods so much because of the great actors, the good humor, and the creativity. The combination of Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, and Ryan Reynolds makes a great movie. I tend to like movies that they star in, so together they work great. Some of my favorite moments are when Nicolas Cage's character, Grug, is acting like the stereotypical father. Like when he dislikes Guy, is protective of his teenage daughter, threatens to "turn this family around," not understanding why the kids need their own shells, and then when he tries to be cool with his "ideas." The creativity in this movie is just amazing. If you watch it, you can tell that the movie was thought through and not just hurried together. The different combinations of animals used to create a unique animal, the use of the shells for cell phones, the football-like way of hunting, "fast food" meaning they have to eat their food fast, Grug's inventions -- I love it!

Pitch Perfect

This is one of those movies that I first watched when I was a teenager. When I had first started hearing about it in high school, I honestly thought it sounded dumb. A movie about singing where they used made up words related to a cappella? Not something I was interested in. BUT, everyone kept saying how great it was so I decided to watch it. And I loved it! I loved the music (because everything sounds so fun when it's done a cappella), Fat Amy, and as a teenager I related to Beca's attitude. Fat Amy's lines were some of my favorites because they were just so creative and funny. The movie definitely wouldn't have been as great without her character.

Murder Mystery

I like this movie because it stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. Together, they work great as a fictional couple. Being a movie starring Adam Sandler, you can expect that it is going to be full of humor. One thing that I find that I really enjoy about this movie is the somewhat realistic portrayal of the married couple. There are so many parts where I'm like "yep! That is so relatable!" For me, this is especially true with some of the conversations they have. I like that they didn't go too far to either end of the spectrum like so many film makers seem to do where the married couple is either unrealistically perfect most of the time or the other end where they are so dysfunctional that you aren't sure how they got married in the first place. It was a perfect balance of both where you can tell they have been together for a while and get on each other's nerves and also really love each other.
